BE STRONG AND COURAGEOUS

fear-and-courage

What does it take to be a hero? First you have to be willing to put your own life at risk for the benefit of someone else. That could mean running into a burning building to save someone or steering an out of control plane into a safe landing. It can also mean standing up for something you believe in.

I wonder if I could have that kind of courage when push came to shove. Would I be capable of taking a stand when it came to my feelings about this country; my political feelings; my religious beliefs? Would I be willing to risk my life to save someone else?

It seems so difficult a concept, especially when we are daily bombarded with words that tell us to put ourselves first. We are taught from little on that we should be confident in ourselves.

When David gave his son Solomon instructions on how to build the temple, the task must have seemed impossible. The blueprint was drawn by God Himself with very specific instructions. It was designed to serve as God’s house of worship for His chosen people. Everything had to be precisely as God directed in the plan written out in His own hand.

We are often faced with what might seem insurmountable tasks. How will I raise a child in a world full of so much evil? How can I face a life without my spouse? Will I ever get into college? Will I get a job when I get out of college? How will I support my family? How do I battle cancer? Each day we are faced with things that require great amounts of courage. For some it might even be something as simple as getting out of bed. Where do we get the strength to survive all the obstacles life throws at us?

David told Solomon to follow God’s plan implicitly. The same can be true for us. If we follow God’s blueprint (His Holy Word – The Bible) we can overcome great odds. Walking in His way will give us the courage to face adversity, fear, worry, anger, hate, sin and all the other negatives that come our way.

I Chronicles 28:20 “Then David said to Solomon his son, “Be strong and courageous and do it. Do not be afraid and do not be dismayed, for the Lord God, even my God, is with you. He will not leave you or forsake you, until all the work for the service of the house of the Lord is finished.”

Dear, Lord, help me always to walk according to the blueprint you have drawn for my life. May I daily read and search your Word for answers. With you I can be strong. With you I will never be afraid.

About atimetoshare.me

As I reach the end of my years, I find I have a lot of good information stored up in this old decrepit mind of mine. If I don't write it all down, it may vanish and no one will have the advantage of my thoughts. This is why this blog exists. I love the Lord, Jesus with all my heart and soul. I know I'm undeserving of all He's done for me, but I also know that His love is beyond my comprehension. I've always wanted to write. I never kept diaries, but tucked my thoughts in my head for future reference. I use them now in creating stories, plays, poetry and my blog. I continue to learn every day. I believe the compilation of our time spent with God will have huge affect on the way we live. I know I'm a sinner and I need a Savior. I have One through Jesus, Christ. My book, "Stages - a memoir," is about the seven stages of life from the perspective of a woman. It addresses all the things girls and women go through in life as they travel it with Jesus, and it is available on Amazon.com.
